Top climate scientists issued a warning to the planet that we, as a species, have only 7 years to stablize the climate if we want to limit global warming to no more than 2 degrees. That rise doesn’t sound like much but is still enough to cause major damage and distruption. After 2015, there will have to be a steep decline in emissions or the planet will still be in peril.
These experts called on the EU to take the lead in spearheading the global effort to fight the warming trend. This of course because the U.S. still has it’s head in the sand on this issue and that pressure needs to be put on countries like China and India.
Why people continue to put money over survival of the species is a mystery to me. The money does you no good if you’re living in a wasteland or there’s no one left around. I had one guy – a coal worker no less – start an argument along these lines with me the other night. His main argument was “But it’s a way of life.” to which I simply replied, “Well, change your way of life.” Duh.
