There is a fascinating post on Jennifer Emick’s Alternate Religions blog about the Tree of Life. If you haven’t read her blog, you should. She covers symbols and beliefs of minority faiths and I always end up learning something that could only be found in the most obscure of books.
Her latest post is about the Tree Of Life and the traits the ‘legend’ has common in several religions. I found it a wonderful post. Very educational.
One thing I took away from the read was how a couple religions/beliefs also compared the Tree of Life to the body’s nervous system. I’d never heard this before – like I said, her posts are always educational for me – and it made me wonder if this knowledge couldn’t expand the horizons of magic a bit especially in dealing with healing or emotional issues. Could the energy of the Tree influence a ritual? Could it be symbol of how to conduct a ritual itself? I don’t know but these questions were raised in my mind and I’ve jotted them down ‘just in case’.
