The week has been oddly lurching along. The swine flu has started to have an impact in this area even though there are no cases here yet. The docs have been alerted to it though which is nice to know. I had a scheduled check-up yesterday and I still have a small cough from a really bad cold a couple weeks ago and they kept asking me about it. They never mentioned swine flu (prudent on their part) but I assured them nothing serious going on.  The fact I had a cold a couple weeks ago might actually be a good thing in this situation. Who knows. I’m not sure how wise it was that I scheduled a check-up and a dental appointment as an outbreak is occuring but that’s the way it worked out.

At work, we’re starting to make contingency plans in case the daycare wing has to be shut down. Obama said today schools might have to close. We half-way expected that before he spoke. It just makes sense that if there is a big outbreak schools will close. I also noticed people are starting to stock up on some extra food ‘just in case’. Again, a prudent pre-caution. Food supplies could be disrupted fairly quickly in a major outbreak.

I’ve been having weird dreams lately. I can’t really categorize them and honestly, I don’t know why I am having them which is a bit unusual for me. I’m usually on top of my dream world. My mom has been in them a few times and I can hear her speak very clearly. But it is not really about anything that happened when she was dying which is the baffling part. I mean sorta but not really. Very strange. Maybe my brain is still sorting some things out?

This week was Israel’s Memorial Day and Independence Day which means I missed one really somber moment and one hell of a party. I like the fact that they put them back to back and you go from memory to the present. I was at an Indpendence Day once and it was a great night. One of my fav nights in my life. The fireworks, the bands, the partying. Guess I will have to make it up in June when I am there. Beware Tel Aviv….the countdown is on.

I’m psyched to see my friend in France as well. Hey Ms. Teacher (who is reading this),  I’m really looking forward to it and I hope you survive the American invasion ok. :)

The economy keeps tanking. GDP off over 6% rate. Unemployment keeps rising. GM is closing over 1000 dealerships and kissing off over 100,000 jobs. At least Chrysler seems to have staved off bankruptcy for now. There seems to be no end in sight to this mess and I think this is the new reality for a long time to come.  No offense to Obama fans out there, but you can’t fix a sinking ship while in the middle of the ocean.

So how is this for a random post? Hope everyone is having a good week out there.
